4th Posting - Blyde River Canyon

Our cool, cloudy weather continues with showers here and there, but it is a relief not to have the unusually hot weather of two weeks ago. For our day in the Blyde River Canyon the clouds actually broke and let the sun through quite a bit, resulting in a spectacular day!

Before leaving Kapama we caught the maids on camera, carrying their bags of laundry on their heads.

Is this Africa or is this Pennsylvania? Beautiful alfalfa fields and many other crops show what a productive land this is. There are also groves of mango, oranges, macadamia nuts, and bananas.

This is one BIG Baobab Tree!

Carol poses at the Three Rondavels. A Rondavel is a Zulu hut, and the earlier pioneers thought these three mountains resembled them.

Shirley Ann Davis Mann! What are you doing up there?

Grandma is busy selling wares, but you can look at my book!

The rain forest at God's Window

We all managed the hike up into the rain forest and were rewarded with lush vegetation and a spectacular view out over the Lowveld!

Anywhere there is a baby, Joyce is happy. This boy's mother very happily let Joyce hold him while she took pictures.

Maxine poses with the gals. People everywhere we go love to pose with us. The South Africans are wonderfully friendly, welcoming and warm, and it makes no difference the age or race.

The girls decided I would look more like an 'official' South African guide if I had the proper hat!

Enough sun came through the clouds to give us a sunset from our rooms.
